Philosophy of Technology in Education

Philosophy of Technology in Education

Children can learn a lot through technology. Smaller children can use touch screen to play learning games that help their hand eye coordination, as well as learning numbers or letters that they are touching. Some app tell children what the letter, number, or word is when they touch it. Touching, seeing, and hearing it all at the same time can help them learn better. I believe children learn best when they are well rested and in a comfortable environment. If children are too tired, they will have a hard time staying focused. I believe the purposes of education are for children to expand their knowledge. They need education for everyday life. Children will continue to grow and need to continue their education for everyday life. They will need to read road signs, directions, documents etc. Math is used in so many ways that we don't even realize we are using it. I will strive to learn about each child in my class and their cultures. I will do my best to bring each culture into the classroom and make each child feel welcomed. I think technology in classrooms can increase good behavior. Timers can be set on a screen for children to know that is how long they have to do a task or it can be a clean up timer. If the children know there is a timer and they can see the numbers counting down, I feel like they are more motivated to clean up, or know they have that amount of time to do a task and they will stay more focused. I think technology in a classroom is a great idea when being used properly. There are so many educational videos, websites, and apps for the children to use. There are dance videos for the children to follow along with. The dance videos are great for days that are rainy or too cold to go outside. My educational goals concerning technology is to use appropriate lessons with technology for my students to excel their learning. I want them to learn to their fullest ability. Educational videos and apps is a great way to help because some students understand better by seeing it.
